Hands On: Ready to rock that volleyball tryout? Remember, you only get one shot to make a killer first impression! With tons of athletes vying for a spot, these tips will help you stand out and snag that coveted team spot.

  1. Get There Early: Don’t be fashionably late! Show up at least 15 minutes early. Not only does it show you're serious, but it also gives you time to chill and get in the zone. Plus, a proper warm-up means peak performance and fewer injuries.

  2. Ditch the Cell Phone: Keep your phone on silent and out of sight. Coaches want your focus on the game, not on your latest text. Show them you're mature and ready for action, not babysitting.

  3. Hustle, Hustle, Hustle: Go for every ball like your life depends on it—even in warm-ups! Coaches love players who give 110%. Run to shag balls, sprint back to the line, and be the first to volunteer. Show them you’re all in!

  4. Be Coachable: Even if you’re a volleyball superstar, coaches want to see that you’re open to learning. Take their advice with a smile and put it into action. No one likes a know-it-all!

  5. Zip It When Coach Speaks: Give coaches your full attention. Make eye contact, nod, and ask questions if you’re unsure. It shows respect and that you’re paying attention.

  6. Call the Ball: Communication is key! Yell “I got it!” and cheer on your teammates. It shows you’re a team player and that you’ve got the basics down pat.

  7. Work Your Butt Off: Volleyball at the top level is no cakewalk. Give it everything you’ve got, every single second. Coaches notice hard workers and prefer them over lazy talents.

  8. Shake It Off: Made a mistake? No biggie! Don’t let it bring you down. Stay positive, keep smiling, and show you’re resilient. No one likes a grump.

  9. Be Versatile: Ready to try a new position? Awesome! Coaches love players who can adapt. Believe in yourself and show you can handle anything they throw at you.

  10. Team Spirit: Volleyball is all about teamwork. Show you can work well with others. High five, cheer, and celebrate your teammates’ successes. It makes the game more fun and shows you’re a great team player.

Bonus Tip: Leave the rival club T-shirt at home. Wear something neutral or from your current team to avoid any awkward vibes.

Follow these tips, and you’ll be sure to shine at your volleyball tryout. Good luck!
